Recovery depends on the extent of your tummy tuck. Most patients are able to stand upright within the first week and can perform lighter activities after 2 weeks. It takes some time to get back to normal, so plan on taking a few weeks off work and other daily activities. Your body will need some time to heal; any bruising and swelling will continue to fade over time. While scarring cannot be avoided, it typically lightens over time and can be easily hidden under a bikini or a pair of underwear.
