What Is BBL Laser Skin Rejuvenation?

bbl logo

Broadband Light (BBL) laser skin treatments are the most powerful type of IPL laser technology available today. BBL uses light energy to harmlessly penetrate the skin’s surface to help skin heal and improve from within.

What Concerns Does BroadbandLight (BBL) Treat?

BBL is used on the face, neck, arms, chest, and shoulders to treat a variety of concerns, including:

  • Brown spots: BBL reaches unwanted pigment to remove brown spots.
  • Redness: Light energy absorbed by the skin penetrates blood vessels and reduces redness.
  • Acne: Pulsed light destroys acne-causing bacteria to calm breakouts and diminishes the redness of acne scars.
  • Lax or aging skin: Gentle pulses of heat energy boost collagen and elastin production, firming and rejuvenating aging skin.

Is There Any Downtime After a BBL Treatment?

The treatment is gentle on the skin and requires little to no downtime. We recommend a series of treatments to achieve optimal results.

Forever Young BBL addresses overall skin pigmentation, visible blood vessels, dark spots and age spots, and helps tighten skin to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. If you are bothered by the appearance of unwanted hair, Forever Bare BBL is the treatment for you. Designed to evenly heat hair follicles, Forever Bare uses BBL light energy to destroy hair at the root and prevent it from returning. This laser is more effective at targeting hair follicles than traditional laser hair removal systems and uses a built-in cooling system to keep your skin cool and comfortable during treatment, allowing us to treat large areas at one time.

BBL® HERO™

We also offer BBL HERO (High Energy Rapid Output) to provide more dramatic results in less time. We can treat large areas of the body in a few minutes with the BBL HERO laser skin rejuvenation system, improving the appearance of active acne, freckles, age spots, vascular lesions, rosacea, and even removing unwanted hair on the back, arms, legs, and chest.

BBL vs. IPL

While treated conditions and results are similar, BBL is faster, more effective, and more comfortable than IPL. BBL treatments have been found to affect the skin at a cellular level to reverse the aging process. Both BBL and IPL are effective for skin rejuvenation, but choosing the right treatment depends on specific symptoms, desired results, and individual goals and concerns.

Key benefits of BBL treatment include:

  • Quicker results: Results appear more quickly in fewer sessions compared to IPL.
  • Targeted treatment: Effectively targets age spots, freckles, and vascular lesions.
  • Advanced technology: Multiple wavelengths and modalities contribute to superior precision.

In comparison, the benefits of IPL treatment include:

  • Slower yet impressive results: Treatments are effective, but results occur more gradually.
  • Versatility: Addresses a variety of skin concerns, including rosacea and hyperpigmentation, gently and effectively.
  • Cost-effective: IPL may cost slightly less than BBL in some cases.

BBL & HALO Laser Skin Rejuvenation FAQs

What’s the best option to treat large pores?

HALO laser treatment is often recommended for reducing the appearance of large pores due to its ability to resurface the skin and improve texture.

Are there any negative side effects from BBL skin rejuvenation treatment?

The risk of side effects may vary depending on the areas and types of problems to be treated, the condition of your skin, and other factors. Common side effects include mild redness and swelling, which usually subside within a few hours to days.

How many times can you get BBL laser treatment?

Your skin condition, aesthetic goals, the specific BBL treatment modality, and a variety of other factors determine the recommended number of treatments. Most people can achieve improvement in hyperpigmentation and redness with 1 to 2 BBL HERO treatments, for example, while those treating their acne or acne scarring with ForeverClear may need 4 to 6 initial treatments. Many patients opt for annual maintenance treatments after their initial series.

Are lasers and BBL good for your skin?

Both laser and BBL treatments can improve your skin’s tone and texture when performed by qualified professionals, helping to improve a range of skin issues.

Is BBL laser treatment painful?

Most patients tolerate the treatment well and describe the sensation as a quick, warm pinch. Topical anesthetics can be used to enhance your comfort during the procedure.

Does HALO laser treatment really work?

Most patients report significant improvements in skin tone, texture, and clarity after HALO laser treatment, although results can vary. For a customized treatment plan that will best address your unique needs, it is best to schedule a consultation.

How long will my HALO results last?

The longevity of HALO results can depend on your skincare routine and lifestyle choices, but many patients enjoy lasting benefits for years with proper maintenance.

Is HALO better than IPL?

HALO and IPL serve different needs. HALO offers deep resurfacing and is often more effective for texture issues, while IPL is usually used for pigmentation and redness.

Will brown spots (age spots) come back after treatment?

The treatment can significantly reduce the appearance of brown spots, but future sun exposure or the aging process could bring new spots. Ongoing maintenance and sun protection help maintain your results.
