Plasma Pen

Model

As we age, the production of collagen and elastin in the skin slows down, causing wrinkles, laxity, and sagging. FDA-approved plasma pen treatments at our med spa renew the skin from within using nitrogen plasma energy. Our patients from Barrington, Arlington Heights, Schaumburg, Crystal Lake, and Algonquin experience tighter, younger-looking contours and skin that is noticeably firmer, smoother, and brighter.

What Does the Plasma Pen Treat?

These non-invasive treatments treat a variety of concerns, which commonly include:

  • Sagging skin on the eyelids, jawline, and neck
  • Crow’s feet, forehead lines, vertical lip lines, and other wrinkles
  • Acne scars
  • Stretchmarks

Plasma Pen may be a good option for people who want an alternative to cosmetic surgery procedures like eyelid surgery or facelifts. It can also enhance the results of neck and chin tightening treatments. During your consultation, one of our practitioners will review your concerns and determine if these treatments are right for you.

How Does the Plasma Pen Work?

The Plasma Pen rapidly delivers an energized plasma gas called nitrogen plasma onto the surface of the skin through its needle-like tip without actually making contact. The plasma energy creates microtraumas in the outermost epidermal layer while heating the deeper dermal structures to activate the skin’s natural healing and increase collagen production. This process is also called fibroblasting or fibroblast therapy because fibroblasts produce collagen in the skin.

What to Expect

plasma pen device

We perform Plasma Pen treatments in our med spa. Your provider will first use a local anesthetic to numb the skin, so you stay as comfortable as possible. The length of your treatment will depend on your specific areas of concern. The upper and lower eyelids take about 1 to 2 hours, while abdomen and leg treatments will take longer. Most people describe the sensation as “tingly” and only experience discomfort when treating thin or sensitive areas.

Most people attain their desired results with just 1 treatment. However, depending on your goals and the number of areas you’re looking to target, you may need 2 or more. We’ll devise a customized treatment plan during your consultation.

Recovery

Immediately after your procedure, you’ll notice a matrix of dark dots covering the treated area. These are tiny carbon crusts that should flake off after about 5 to 7 days, revealing healthy new skin. Your skin will continue to regenerate and heal in response to their microtraumas for the next 12 weeks, gradually improving in appearance.

Results

Once your results have developed, you should notice tighter, smoother skin and a noticeable softening of lines, wrinkles, and folds. These results typically last for about 3 years.
