Contour TRL® Laser Skin Resurfacing

Model

Is it time to hit the refresh button when it comes to your skin? Laser skin resurfacing at our Barrington, IL, medical spa can restore a smooth, soft texture and an evenly colored radiance. Contour TRL (tunable resurfacing laser) is a safe, effective treatment that rejuvenates the entire surface of the skin, making it great for correcting signs of aging and sun damage. Each procedure is personalized, so the number of treatments and amount of downtime are up to you.

What Does Contour TRL Treat?

Contour TRL is safe for the face and body. Women and men choose these treatments to address a variety of concerns, including:

  • Deep or shallow lines and wrinkles around the mouth, eyes, and more
  • Rough, uneven texture
  • Brown spots, freckles, and other excess pigmentation
  • Acne scars and surgical scars
  • Lax skin
  • Actinic keratoses
  • Enlarged pores

Treatments improve the outcomes of other cosmetic skin treatments and facial plastic surgery procedures such as facelifts and eyelid surgery.

How It Works

Unlike our HALO® and MOXI® fractional lasers that treat tiny pinpoints of the skin, Contour TRL is a full-field erbium laser that treats the entire surface. After treatment, new skin cells form without excess pigmentation. Collagen is gradually replenished within the skin, making it firmer and more elastic.

Treatment Options

Contour TRL is so versatile we can use it for three different treatments: NanoLaserPeel®, MicroLaserPeel®, and Contour TRL at our Barrington med spa. The intensity of each treatment can be adjusted to your needs, cosmetic goals, and available recovery time.

Is Contour TRL Laser Resurfacing Painful?

Discomfort varies between treatment options and with the depth of treatment. Topical numbing cream is typically all patients need for the NanoLaserPeel and MicroLaserPeel. For Contour TRL and deeper laser peels, Dr. Burke adds injections of a local anesthetic to minimize any discomfort during treatment.

How Long Do Laser Peels Take To Heal?

After NanoLaserPeel and MicroLaserPeel treatments, the skin will look and feel mildly sunburned for about 1 to 3 days. Within a few days, treated skin cells will slough off, revealing brighter, smoother skin.

How Long Is Recovery After a Contour TRL Treatment?

Because these are deeper treatments, recovery is longer than with the superficial laser peels. Treated skin will be red, swollen, and feel tight and warm for about 7 to 14 days. We will provide you with specific aftercare instructions to help you attain optimal results as quickly as possible.

How Long Will It Take To See Results?

Healing and results take longer with deeper treatments. Patients generally see improvements in their skin within the following time frames:

  • NanoLaserPeel: 3 to 5 days
  • MicroLaserPeel: 3 to 5 days
  • Contour TRL: 1 week for light treatments; 2 to 6 months for deeper treatments

How Long Do Results Last?

The skin improves for months after treatment as collagen develops and new skin cells are formed. The aging process will continue, but maintenance treatments can keep your skin looking smooth and fresh. Wear a high-quality sunscreen and avoid exposure to the sun to maintain your results and prevent damage.

Contour TRL FAQs

Is laser skin resurfacing better than laser skin rejuvenation?

The answer depends on your specific needs. Laser skin resurfacing typically addresses the outer layers of skin to improve skin texture and brightness, acne scars, and wrinkles—although Contour TRL can also treat deeper skin aging and sun damage. Laser skin rejuvenation is often used for concerns such as discoloration, broken capillaries, rosacea, age spots, and the deep effects of sun damage. Our team can advise which treatment is best for your skin concerns.

Is laser skin resurfacing worth it?

Many patients find the treatment highly effective for reducing signs of aging and improving skin texture. However, as with any treatment, results vary. For a tailored treatment plan that addresses your unique skin concerns, it is best to schedule a personalized consultation.

How much younger will I look with a deep Contour TRL laser treatment?

The treatment can offer significant improvements in skin tone and texture, resulting in a more youthful appearance. However, the extent to which you’ll look younger varies from person to person.

What’s the best age to start laser skin resurfacing?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer; the right time depends on your skin’s condition and your aesthetic goals. If you are concerned about the way your skin looks, it’s probably time to explore your treatment options.

Are lasers better at treating signs of aging than BOTOX® and dermal fillers?

Lasers and injectables such as BOTOXand dermal fillers serve different purposes and can even complement each other. Lasers excel in improving surface irregularities and deep photodamage, while BOTOX and fillers are effective for addressing wrinkles and volume loss.
