At our med spa and plastic surgery practice, we offer CoolTone™ treatments that help firm and tone muscle. Results are long-lasting and enable our patients from Barrington, Arlington Heights, Schaumburg, Crystal Lake, and Algonquin to look toned and trim long after their nonsurgical treatment.

CoolTone uses electromagnetic energy to stimulate the muscles in the abdomen, thighs and buttocks to create a firmer, more toned appearance. This treatment can be combined with CoolSculpting to tone muscles and reduce fat.

How Does CoolTone Work?

CoolTone works using magnetic energy to stimulate involuntary muscle contractions to build muscle at a much greater rate than normal exercise. Using an innovative technology called magnetic muscle stimulation (MMS), CoolTone causes muscle contractions to help strengthen muscle fibers in targeted areas, including the abdomen, butt and thighs.

During a 30–minute CoolTone treatment to the abdomen, muscles are stimulated the equivalent of 25,000 sit-ups!

The muscle contractions are not painful, but patients typically report feeling some muscle soreness after the procedure. We recommend drinking plenty of water after the treatment to help reduce soreness.

A Customized Treatment Plan

CoolTone patients from Schaumburg, Arlington Heights and surrounding areas who want to increase the effectiveness of diet and exercise choose this treatment to help improve their appearance without surgery. We discuss your goals with you before treatment, then design a custom treatment plan to help you reach your goals.

The CoolTone muscle tightening process is also completely nonsurgical, so there are minimal side-effects, the most common being muscle soreness like after a strenuous workout. You can return to work and other normal activities immediately after treatment.

CoolTone vs. EMSculpt

For noninvasive muscle toning, CoolTone and EMSculpt are both game-changers in the industry. However, the treatments employ different technologies (magnetic muscle stimulation versus high-intensity focused electromagnetic technology). Our practice leans towards CoolTone, primarily due to its 50% higher power output compared to EMSculpt.

CoolTone FAQs

How long does a treatment session last?

Most CoolTone treatments last just 30 minutes.

How many CoolTone treatments will I need?

We recommend 4 initial treatments spaced one month apart. Individual results will vary, so more treatments may be recommended.

Can I combine CoolTone with CoolSculpting?

Yes! Many patients choose to combine CoolTone treatments with CoolSculpting to help build muscle and reduce fat. These treatments supplement one another to help you achieve the shape you’ve always wanted.

What does a CoolTone treatment feel like?

During a CoolTone treatment, the provider attaches a paddle-like applicator to the abdomen, buttocks or thighs. The device is then activated, causing magnetic energy to travel through the targeted muscle groups, stimulating contractions. The contractions are not painful, but patients have indicated some soreness after treatment, similar to the effects of a strenuous workout.

When will I see results?

Results from CoolTone are noticeable within 2 to 4 weeks after the final treatment session. You can schedule follow-up treatments to help maintain your results.
